Eyes closed with chair and radio is een solo-improvisatievoorstelling gebaseerd op het begrip "luisteren". Een ziende danseres zit op een stoel en doet een blinddoek om en zet de radio aan. De choreografie die ontstaat is een poging om de kinesthetische sensatie te onderzoeken in relatie tot het situeren van zichzelf in een performance context met een stoel, een radio en een publiek als referentiepunten. De toevalligheden van ruimte, geluid en publiek verweven een nieuw verhaal door elke voorstelling heen.

Eyes closed with chair and radio, is a solo improvisation performance based on the notion of “listening”. A sighted dancer sits on a chair and ties a blindfold to cover her eyes, she turns on the radio. The choreography that emerges is an attempt to exploring kinaesthetic sensation in relation to locating herself in a performance context with a chair, a radio and an audience as reference points. The coincidences of space, sound and public weave a new story through each performance.

BIO
Thalia Laric is a dance artist and contact improvisation teacher from Cape Town, South Africa. She studied dance at the University of Cape Town and completed her Masters in Choreography at Rhodes University with a focus on improvisation practice. She has worked professionally with various South African theatre companies and has founded several dance platforms including, Underground Dance Theatre, New Dance Lab and Music Dance021. She is interested in improvisation technique and real-time composition as a teaching methodology and choreographic approach and has been following the work of Katie Duck and Julyen Hamilton. She collaborates frequently in performance projects with dance artists and musicians, and has recently been involved in performing in dance productions for very young audiences.
