ABOUT Closed Eyes Festival
Omdat onze wereld met name visueel is ingesteld, vergeten we de rijkdom wel eens van de mogelijkheden van de rest van ons lichaam. Maar: waarnemen doen we met al onze zintuigen.
Kijken gaat over de buitenwereld. Wanneer we waarnemen met gesloten ogen gaat het over onze binnenwereld.
Hoe brengen we de buitenwereld naar binnen als we niet kunnen kijken?
Sommige mensen zijn noodgedwongen visueel beperkt. Anderen nodigen we uit zich te blinddoeken om op deze manier met elkaar en met onszelf in contact te komen door middel van kunst en expressie.
Het Closed Eyes Festival wordt georganiseerd door choreografe Vicky Angelidou, componist Xavier Geerman en beeldend kunstenaar Jofke. ®Zij dagen zichzelf, andere artiesten en bezoekers uit om te ontdekken hoe we onszelf kunnen verrijken door twee belevingswerelden en diverse disciplines met elkaar te verbinden. U bent vrij om erbij te zijn om u op persoonlijk, artistiek en/of beroepsmatig vlak te laten inspireren.

Er is een voelbare gidslijn die u door het gebouw van activiteit naar activiteit begeleidt.

Er zijn audiobeschrijvingen en aanvullingen die oor middel van QR-codes te beluisteren zijn via een smartphone.

3 blinde adviseurs nemen een actieve rol aan in dit evenement op beeldend, muzikaal en organisatorisch vlak. Wij bedanken Mirjam Damstra, Wim Pierik en Theo Hendrikse voor hun bijdrage.

ABOUT Closed Eyes Festival
Because our world is mainly visual, we sometimes forget the richness of the possibilities of the rest of our body. But: we perceive with all our senses. Looking is about the outside world. When we perceive with our eyes closed, it is about our inner world.

How do we make contact with our surroundings when we cannot see?
How do we bring the outside world inside if we cannot see?
The first international Closed Eyes Festival in Tilburg is on its way. An event for blind and partially sighted people as well as people who want to be inspired by participating blindfolded. International artists organize surprising workshops and activities that stimulate all the senses.
Artists challenge themselves, other artists and visitors to discover how we can enrich ourselves by connecting two worlds of experience and various disciplines. You are free to be there to be inspired on a personal, artistic and/or professional level. If you have any questions or ideas after the festival, you can contact us to think along or to help you.
