PHOTO EXHIBITION
In dit werk ontstaat een sculptuur uit een foto door een dialoog tussen licht en schaduw. De negatieve ruimte in de installatie transformeert het licht tot een nieuw beeld. De foto vult als het ware de hele ruimte.
Deze ervaring benadrukt de verschillen in waarnemingen.
1. Een hoog contrast (door het sterke licht in contrast met het donker)

Sterk licht verblind een normale persoon.

Een hoog contrast maakt een beeld zichtbaar voor blinden.Ee
2. 3D installatie

Het standpunt verandert wanneer de persoon beweegt (geen statisch beeld).

Sterk licht gidst de blinden doorheen de installatie.

The dialogue between light and darkness turns photography into a multidimensional experience. The original picture is based on a balanced scene of light and shadow. In the installation this negative space sculpts the light into a new image by filling up the entire space.
It encourages different ways of looking by
1. High contrast (strong light)

strong light blinds a normal person
-
high contrast makes the image visible for blind people
2. 3D (installation)

point of view changes by the movement of the person (no static image)

the strong light guides the blind person into the installation

BIO
​
Evy Raes is a photographer from Antwerp. She focuses on the creation of installations that establish a dialogue between the artist, the public and the space.
The influence of the public and other disciplines enables her to explore new possibilities of her medium photography. This varies from large photo prints in public space to step into traditional Flemish interiors (Kom binnen!) to projections that turns a 2 dimensional picture into an 3D experience (Nooit Gezien).
Her latest work translated the visual perception of people with dementia. For “Lights out” she looks into her medium again to find ways to experience a photograph.
